Information & Communication Technology (ICT) Section

The ICT Section deals with E-Governance, Digitization of Records and Right to Information (RTI) Act, 2005.

E-Governance

The e-Office, being implemented in the Department, is a Mission Mode Project (MMP) under the National e-Governance Programme (NeGP) of GOI. It is aimed to conduct the office procedure electronically for a simplified, responsive, effective and transparent working in all government offices. Under this project, the e-office products such as the File Management System (FMS), Knowledge Management System (KMS), Leave Management System (LMS), e-PAR (SPARROW), Personnel Information Management System (PIMS), Employee Services like e-Notice Board, e-Pay Slip, e-Income Tax Statement, Collaboration and Messaging System (CAMS) have been made available in the Department.

Digitization of Records

In the digitization of records, around 37,036 files (approx. 75.65 lakh pages) have been scanned while around 36,773 files have been uploaded on the e-Office portal. The aggregate percentage of e-files on e-office portal as of April, 2019 is around 94.44%. The number of new e-Files opened every month is consistently more than 95%. Regular training sessions are given to all staff members to make them well proficient with e-Office products.

Right to Information Act, 2005

Under the RTI Act, 2005, the work relating to the appointments of the Central Public Information Officers/ Central Assistant Public Information Officers and Appellate Authorities, collection / compilation and monitoring of material for the manuals reports / returns as prescribed by CIC and DOPT is done. For the compliance by the attached/subordinate/field offices and PSUs of this Department, the monitoring is also done.

Department’s website

The Department’s enhanced website was launched on 01.01.2019. ICT acts as a nodal section and facilitates all the sections of the Department for consultation with NIC and vendor for regular updation/ changes on website and also for activities like Security Audit, Annual Maintenance Cost(AMC), SSL Certificate etc., related to the website.

Cyber Security

ICT is nodal office for implementation of Cyber Security activities under JS(Impex&IC) who is the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) for implementation of best practices, constitution of Crisis Management Group (CMG) in the Department for dealing with crisis arising out of cyber attacks and preparation of Cyber Crisis Management Plan (CCMP) including detailed contingency plan for dealing with crisis arising out of cyber attacks.

Social Media Activities

ICT is nodal section for social media activities in the Department. The activities like nomination/ appointment of core team and nodal officer to handle Social Media Activities like twitter (@FoodDeptGOI), website (banners) etc., and liaison with M/o Information & Broadcasting/ other Ministries/ Departments for communication of important decisions/ activities.
