Welcome to National Sugar Institute, Kanpur

It was the Indian Sugar Committee appointed by the Government of India in 1920 that first recommended the establishment of an all India Institute for research in Sugar Technology. The need for a Central Sugar Research Institute was also emphasized by the Royal Commission of Agriculture in 1928 and the Tariff Board in 1930.

The Institute awards Certificate, Masters and Doctoral degrees in various branches of Technology and Science. It has been making special efforts to recruit talented faculty on a world-wide basis and to admit bright students from all over the country by an online selection process.
